Frank Broomhead enlisted on the 13th January 1916 at Liverpool in New South Wales. He was employed as a farmer, and had previously served for six months with the Boy Scouts. He stated his next of kin as his mother, Mrs. F. Shirley, of the Market Place, Hartington, Derbyshire. Five feet eight inches tall, he weighed 124 pounds, had a fair complexion, brown eyes and black hair, and belonged to the Church of England.
